Companies Without HR at drupa: A Missed Opportunity for Attracting Young Talent

This year’s drupa attracted 170,000 industry professionals from around the world. Among them were not only industry experts and businesspeople but also numerous students and pupils interested in the latest trends and technologies in the printing industry. One crucial detail, however, likely remained in the minds of these young talents: those who wanted to learn about career opportunities probably couldn’t find the right contact person.

Drupa provided a unique platform for networking, discovering innovations, and gaining insights into the future of the printing industry. For companies, the trade fair was also a valuable opportunity to attract young talent and establish early connections with potential future employees. Students and pupils interested in a career in the printing industry had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to speak directly with company representatives, ask questions, and learn about career opportunities. Unfortunately, this opportunity was largely missed by the companies.

At many booths, only salespeople and technical experts were present, who could provide detailed information about products and technologies but had little to no knowledge about career opportunities, internships, or trainee programs. However, the direct contact with potential employers is of invaluable importance.

The absence of HR representatives at drupa highlights that many companies missed an important opportunity. The fair provides the perfect chance to present oneself as an attractive employer and to engage young talent early on. In times of skilled labor shortages and increasing competition for the best minds, it is more important than ever for companies to actively engage with the next generation. This starts with being present at trade fairs like drupa and seeking dialogue with potential future employees. At Apenberg & Partner, we are here to support you in strategically strengthening your talent marketing and attracting young talent to your company. We offer comprehensive consulting services to help you position yourself as an attractive employer and make the most of your presence at key industry events. Let’s work together to attract the best talent for your company.
